Met-L-Chek® FBP series penetrants are a special oil and solvent free formulation which utilizes biodegradable components and is VOC free. They are water washable and solvent removeable penetrants used for the detection of fine cracks, porosity, and through leaks on metals, composites, synthetic materials, and some plastics. The materials used are biodegradable surfactants, low in sulfur and halogens and safe for use on all metal surfaces. Met-L-Chek® FBP series penetrants are bright yellow, smooth washing and non-gel forming, allowing them to wash cleanly from rough surface.

For Method C applications, use with E-59, E-59A, R-503, and R-504. All FBP series penetrants are SAE QPL AMS 2644 certified, meeting the requirements of ASTM E1417, ASTM E165, ASTM E1209, AMS 2647, NAVSEA 250-1500-1, ISO/FDIS 3452, and ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Sec. V Article 25.

FBP-911 Level 1

Type: I / Method: A & C / Sensitivity Level: 1

Met-L-Chek® FBP-911 is a special oil and solvent free formulation which utilizes biodegradable components and is VOC free and safe for use on all metal surfaces. Met-L-Chek® FBP-911 is used for the detection of fine cracks, porosity, and through leaks on metals, composites, synthetic materials, and some plastics. Met-L-Chek® FBP-911 is approved for low sensitivity aerospace applications.  It is bright yellow, smooth washing and non-gel forming, allowing a clean wash cleanly from rough surface. It is applied by immersion, spray, brush on, wipe on or electrostatic spray.

For Method C applications it is used with E-59, E-59A, R-503, and R-504.

FBP-912 Level 2

Met-L-Chek® FBP-912 is a special oil and solvent free formulation which utilizes biodegradable components and is VOC free, and safe for use on all metal surfaces. Met-L-Chek® FBP-912 is used for the detection of fine cracks, porosity, and through leaks on metals, composites, synthetic materials, and some plastics. Met-L-Chek® FBP-912 is approved for medium sensitivity aerospace applications. It is bright yellow, smooth washing and non-gel forming, allowing a clean wash cleanly from rough surface. It is applied by immersion, spray, wipe on, brush on or electrostatic spray.

For Method C applications it is used with E-59, E-59A, R-503, and R-504.

FBP-913 Level 3

Met-L-Chek® FBP-913 is approved for high sensitivity aerospace applications. It is bright yellow, smooth washing and non-gel forming, allowing a clean wash cleanly from rough surface. It is applied by immersion, spray, wipe on, brush on or electrostatic spray.

For Method C applications it is used with E-59, E-59A, R-503, and R-504.

FBP-914 Level 4

Met-L-Chek® FBP-914 is approved for ultra-high sensitivity aerospace applications. It is bright yellow, smooth washing and non-gel forming, allowing a clean wash cleanly from rough surface. It is applied by immersion, spray, wipe on, brush on and electrostatic spray

For Method C applications it is used with E-59, E-59A, R-503, and R-504.

Choosing Fluorescent (Type 1) Water Washable (Method A) Penetrants

Water washable penetrants are the most widely used for general metal working and even low stress component aerospace applications. Water washable penetrants are composed of water washable ingredients. The penetrant covered part is simply washed after the prescribed penetration dwell time. Being water washable, excessive wash time or pressure must be avoided with Method "A" penetrants, to avoid washing the penetrant out of shallow open discontinuities.

The FBP-911, FBP-912, FBP-913 and FBP-914 series covers sensitivity levels 1-4 and was designed to be the most environmentally friendly possible. This series does not contain fats, oils or greases (FOGs) and is free of any volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The constituents are considered biodegradable. This series is smooth washing, non-gel forming and will wash cleanly from rough surfaces.

The FP-921, FP-922 and FP-923 series cover sensitivity levels 1-3. These materials are bright yellow green fluorescent penetrants that are smooth washing, with controlled removal without gelling. They have low viscosities, which aids in spraying and reduced drag out in immersion applications. The materials use biodegradable surfactants. They are approved by GE, Pratt & Whitney and Rolls Royce for non-rotating turbine engine component inspection. Widely used for investment casting inspection and general industrial applications.
