NDT Classroom Radiation Safety

NDTclassroom.com's Radiation Safety training is a completely video-based online course by Walt Cofer. The course is intended as initial or refresher training for individuals pursuing industrial radiographer radiation safety certification and for anyone interested in understanding the basic principles and applications of industrial radiation safety. The course addresses required training topics for radiographic personnel specified in federal (10 CFR 34.43) and equivalent state radiation control regulations, as well as topics listed in Appendix A to ASNT CP-105-2011 (excluding neutron radiography). It addresses the 40-hr. training prerequisite for the ANST IRRSP exam and equivalent radiographer certification exams administered by state radiation control agencies.
The course provides an understanding of the basic principles and fundamentals of radiation safety applicable to industrial radiography. Learning outcomes as assessed using written quizzes at the end of each lesson and a comprehensive final exam. This course includes multiple choice questions to help the student prepare for the formal certification exam. A 100 question multiple choice exam is given at the conclusion of the course. The student must receive a passing score of 60% on the final exam to be considered prepared for the formal exam from the certifying entity.
The training is divided into 12 lessons:
| - Atomic Structure and Types of Radiation
- Radiation Properties and Interactions with Matter
- Radiation Units and Terminology
- Sources of Ionizing Radiation
- Biological Effects of Ionizing Radiation
- Radiation Measurement and Instrumentation
- Protection Against Ionizing Radiation
- Radiation Control Regulations
- Radioactive Material Transportation Regulations
- Radiographic Equipment (X-Ray and Isotope)
- Radiation Safety Programs and Procedures
- Case Histories of Radiography Incidents
|
This training:
| - Is required for individuals seeking certification as an industrial radiographer.
